Hi: I'm new to the group; I've been happily using a StarMax 3000/240 since 1997. Not long ago, my CD-ROM drive stopped working. The tray wouldn't open. I assumed the kids bumped it off its track and I took it to a friend that fixes PCs. He said the drive was bad and I needed a new one.
I suppose the best way to get one is to get a used drive from another StarMax. Any suggestions or recommendations for sources? Is this a difficult thing to replace once I have a drive? Can I do it myself? (I've installed memory and a USB card, but have limited computer repair experience.) I need the drive to load TurboTax so I can do my taxes! Thanks for any suggestions, advice!
