I'm afraid I can't agree. A chemical battery has a shelf life--the time 
its internal connections and chemistry are present and working properly. 
Trickle charging has almost nothing to do with that. When internal 
contamination occurs, the battery doesn't have its rated voltage and 
charging won't return it.

What you're confusing is having the separate 5v circuit always connected 
because the Max is plugged in. That will carry the PRAM forward, and 
you're resetting the CUDA switch regularly is very likely a strong 
indication that the battery.has long since fizzled.

Motorola may build good shit, bit it has no patent on immortality. 
(Besides, don't they just make the machines? And aren't the machines 
really Apple? And neither makes batteries?)
