With DSL the setup is pretty simple. Just add a Switch to the output of your DSL modem and then plug in any computer to the the Switch. Apparently a router or hub will give you more security than a Switch but I am not sure about the difference other than the Switch is a lot cheaper. Setup as follows. Incoming line to the DSL modem. Straight thru CAT 5 network cable from the Modem to the Switch. Straight thru CAT 5 network cables from the Switch to the ethernet connection on each computer. Don't use a crossover cable except to connect a computer directly to the DSL modem. I have a Belkin 5 port Switch which allows us to plug in 4 computers. All can access the internet at the same time, and all can be set up to share files between computers. -- StarMax is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> StarMax list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/starmax.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/starmax%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
