Huh? The Airport card is a 802.11b wireless card made by Apple, so as
far as a wireless network card on "any other Mac", the answer seems a
bit obvious! We have had them for a few years now.

Really, I am not quite sure what you are asking. If you mean a
non-Apple supplied wireless card, then yes, most of them work with a
Mac. For example, the Skyline series at
http://www.farallon.com/products/all/skyline/index.html works with
Macs. I once reset a Windows user's wireless card on my G4 tower at
work. He needed a firmware update and his Windows box would not
co-operate. I popped it into the tower's airport card slot and used the
latest Airport software. Worked like a charm when he took it back to
his Windows box and popped it in. I do not recall the brand off hand.

Now if you want to connect a wireless card to a StarMax, then you need
a PCI to PCMCIA adapter. (I do not know of any PCI wireless cards
proper. All require an adapter of some sort.) Farallon has a PCI to
PCMCIA adapter that will allow wireless cards to be plugged in, and
they support Macs. Again see the URL above.
