Classic symptoms of "Time to replace the battery" disease.  You may or may 
not be able to get video by warm booting.  If you can warm boot the date is 
probably not correct.  If the date is scrambled or defaults to the year 1956
you can bet the problem is likely to be only a battery.

My SM 2000 250 will not start. I hear the chime and drive spinning. Monitor
stays dark. After about 5 seconds -- nothing. Monitor says "no signal," then
goes to sleep mode. I tried inserting boot disk and holding C key-- also
tried P-RAM. Nada. I have never replaced the clock battery. Would a dead
battery cause this behavior? My intuition is that it is a hardware problem.
(OS 9.2, 30 GB HD, 128 ram, USB card, ethernet card.)
