Hi Michael,

Have you tried booting with the shift key down to disable the extensions;

or holding command, option, p and r so as to zap the pram,

or holding down the 'c' key all the way through boot up
until the message, "Do you want to rebuild the desktop" comes up?

I'd boot from my TechTool Pro 3 CD and then once in, let TT do all of the above.
