Umm... that ain't an Ethernet card. That's an ATI Mach64VT video chip (standard issue on a StarMax). Now, this is only a wild guess, but when I installed the RTL8139 driver, I had to patch it so that it knew the PCI ID of my card. I just wonder if you stuck "ATY,264VT" into the driver, which is somehow getting very confused... In my case (with a RealTek-based Allied Telesyn card), it the card's ID is "pci1259,2503". You can tell this from Apple System Profiler - devices and volumes tab - as it quite clearly marks one as "Display card" and one as "Ethernet card". This is just a very wild guess, though. However, if your machine really does say "ATY,264VT" under "Ethernet card" in Apple System Profiler, then something is wrong with it... Hm, did you hold down the CUDA button after adding the card? That is apparently necessary to make the machine work right afterwards (although I didn't need to do that on mine). > The upgrade went ok, but the Starmax is now very sluggish. This might be to do with the Folder Actions scripting daemon that's running in the background - I certainly found it slowed 9.1 down. Try going into Extensions Manager and disabling the Folder Actions extension and rebooting. Mac OS 9.1 does seem slower than 8.6 in general, but Folder Actions made it quite a bit worse. -- StarMax is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> StarMax list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/starmax.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/starmax%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
