Thanks for the suggestion of swapping out the CD-ROM drive for another hard drive.
My understanding is that, in my case of already having installed a 120 GB drive, the IDE/ATA bus is already at full capacity, and wouldn't recognize another drive. Still, for more moderately sized drives, I suspect this is often done, but again, so long as the total quantity of storage doesn't exceed the 128 GB barrier.
One way around this, is to install another IDE/ATA card in one of the PCI slots. Sonnect Technologies have all sorts of expansion cards for this, and other purposes. This way, the 128 GB barrier can be exceed because the new card would likely function above ATA66. At least, this is my understanding, however my terminology may be a little off, but the gist holds true.
In fact, I may do this in the future, as I've found space inside the cabinet, beneath the CD drive. I'm still uncertain how I might actually secure the drive inside the cabinet, but if nothing else, a good ol' thick piece of Duct tape might hold another drive in place [ ... just kidding]. As it's not moved around, I suspect the drive would be fine just sitting there. However, proper grounding through the chassis may be an issue. Still, I'm a good ways off from having to consider this option.

Chris A. reminded us that there are two IDE/ATA buses on the motherboard, which can each hold a drive. I do believe that the 3000 used one of those for the CD-ROM. What I forgot (and Chris brought to mind) is that there is a SCSI bus inside too! I shouldn't have forgotten because two of my drives are SCSI.
Of course, the last time I looked, SCSI drives were way expensive. Apple used to use SCSI exclusively, making the change-over to IDE about the time the clones came out.
Still, it's another option.
