I agree! I have two 120 Drives in my machine and they work just fine!

Thanks for the suggestion of swapping out the CD-ROM drive for
another hard drive.

My understanding is that, in my case of already having installed a
120 GB drive, the IDE/ATA bus is already at full capacity, and
wouldn't recognize another drive.

Which bus? Seeing as you have two, and can only have one drive per bus, putting a 120 Gb drive on one bus has no effect on the other bus. I've had my new 120 Gb drive and my old 30 Gb drive both connected at the same time on this (with one of them connected in place of the CD-ROM drive) and it works. I must say, that the main 24 Gb partition of the smaller drive was only readable using DiskWarrior's preview mode (as it's screwed up).

Still, for more moderately sized drives, I suspect this is often done, but
again, so long as the total quantity of storage doesn't exceed the 128 GB
barrier.

As I understand it, the limit is 256 GB - 128 GB on each bus maximum.

In fact, I may do this in the future, as I've found space inside the
cabinet, beneath the CD drive. I'm still uncertain how I might
actually secure the drive inside the cabinet, but if nothing else, a
good ol' thick piece of Duct tape might hold another drive in place [
... just kidding].

I was going to use Blu-Tak or something like that if I ever found how to make it run slave drives.
