OK, I know my inability to boot the 4000 from the CD-ROM drive has
something to do with the non-Apple drive in the unit but I do not know
what to do to work around this short of replacing the drive with an
Apple drive. Do I install some other CD-ROM driver (extension), and if
so, how do I find a suitable extension (I do by the way have an old FWB
CD-ROM driver on an old PowerComputing system installation disc stashed
someplace), and do I disable all native Apple CD-ROM extensions so as
not to "conflict" with non-Apple extensions? Thanks for your help and
suggestions! Oh, I currently have MacOS 9.1 installed, plenty of RAM,
and 2 Gig HD if that makes any difference. One reason this issue has
come up is to be able to run Norton or TechToolPro disc utilities on
the 4000.
