An idea, however, my Norton is on a CD, not a floppy so I don't know
how to get there. Of course, I could hook up an external zip drive to
the StarMax I suppose, boot from that, and run some disc utilities from
a zip disc also I suppose. What do you think?

Doesn't Norton come with a util for making a start-up floppy (or,
iirc, it came with a floppy in the box?), from which you can access
the Norton disk tools CD? It's been so long since I've Norton'd my
Max I'm afraid I can't recall how I did it, though now that you
mention it, it's likely well past time to do it again.
