There's nothing native to StatusNet that uses the Unicode recycle
symbols; that's a client-side feature in Gwibber and some folks like to
do it manually.
Since that character isn't present in default fonts on Windows XP or any
mobile device I've checked or had checked (iPhone, Android, Windows
Mobile, or Blackberry) I do recommend against it though.
