Probably Portland stone Margot. This is initially white but weathers to a
roughish surface and in damp areas gets covered in algae. Portland is an
ancient and wonderful stone. It is quarried on a small island off the south
coast of England. All the great buildings in London are made from it
including St Pauls Cathedral. See if you can find St Pauls on the net and
you may get some angelic images.
