I've taken a peek at the trace. It would appear that the Microsoft initiator is resetting the connection after it receives my response to an INQUIRY command of page 0x00. The only thing that I can interpret here is that your Windows Initiator is not liking the fact that I only support Page 0 and Page 0x83. However, when I've tested with my Windows initiator I don't see the problem. I'll need to poke around some more to see what I can find.

I've not seen the disconnects and can't imagine why you'd be getting
them unless there's network problem. I'm not saying you have network
problems, it's just the only reason that I can think of that would
cause what you're seeing.

I've tested this with both the target and the initiator running under
VMware so that seems to rule out the network. I've also tested it both
ways with only one of the two systems running under VMware and I get
the same behavior. I'll try to setup two non-VMware systems to rule
out a problem with VMware.

Out of curiosity is there a core file on /? Or does the PID of the
iscsitgtd keep changing? Thinking about the problem this would be the
other most logical cause. The daemon is getting a segv or something
and SMF is restarting it.

The PID of iscsitgtd is always the same across reconnects so it doesn't
look like the daemon is being restarted.

A network capture with Ethereal shows the Windows XP system sending
a TCP reset to Solaris followed immediately by a reconnect and login.
I posted the capture to http://www.edplese.com/files/iscsi.cap .
