Hi Gabriele, very sorry this has taken so long - the answer is still the same - it's either your drive or your media which is exhibiting the problem. My firm belief is that the problem is with your actual tape media and not with the tape drive. While the documentation for each tape drive in the LTO consortium, the STK 9xx0 and (S)DLT families does indicate that it's possible to have a sense key of 0x4 (hardware error, ie the drive) being mis-reported, my experience with the LTO family is that those drives are sufficiently well implemented to be able to make that distinction. Replace the tape(s). If you are worried about a large number of tapes which appear to have this error, then contact your tape vendor. best regards, James C.
