After doing a bit more analysis, I see that my drives are mostly uniformly split across the two FC ports, except that 'sd19' is mysteriously on 't1' rather than 't2'. This means that there are two more drives accessed via 't1' rather than 't2'.
Now I am thinking that there is a problem with one of the FC channels. I reset the two controllers in the 2540 to see if that made a difference, but it did not. I see that two retryable scsi hardware errors are reported against each of the drives on port 't1'. Perhaps I have a failing controller, port, or FC cable.
