That does actually work and so far we have not seen any bug in that
area so I am not sure what happened there.

Performance through COMSTAR is mostly the same as performance of
your back end on the target system. It will be good if you can test
your backend (the zvol I assume in this case) directly on the target
machine to see whats the write performance you are getting by
directly talking to the zvol with a similar load.
