I'd rather slice up the SSDs than do them on zvols. Not that there's anything wrong with zvols -- it's just that you're running through a lot more code which is going to impact the performance. Sounds like you're building a terrific system. I'm looking forward to reading about the performance you get out of your hybrid storage pool.
