I have seen exactly the same behavior. Linux iscsi initiator could successfully login, but no disk was connected. This happened to me after a power failure of the target server.
The only workaround I found to solve this issue was to rename the zfs volume. It may sound strange but this really solved this problem. Can you give it a try?
