Have narrowed my choices down a bit.

Option 1. AMD based 1x M3N-WS motherboard + cheapest 2 core 64bit cpu ~£105
with phenom x4 ~£175
pro - This setup has 1x pci-x for a aoc-sat2-mv8 and 2x1000mb/s network
connections.(currently need workaround to work)
con - For power-management support / frequency scaling etc... I will have to
get a phenom cpu or newer.

Option 2. intel based. DP35DP + core 2 duo cost ~£185
pro - 3x pci which also could take a aoc-sat2-mv8 but supports only up to
150MB/s (more than enough for a home NAS / file server) and has 1x 1000mb/s
network connection.

Option 3. upgrade from via epia sn 1ghz to 1.8ghz. cost ~£185
pro - very low power usage for 24/7 use. sufficient ghz to stream full HD
content over home network.
con - expensive as it will again only give .8ghz performance boost and no new
storage unless i use the old 1ghz epia sn for home directories and the 1.8ghz
for media files. how-ether this will put power usage up there with the intel
and amd systems.

anyone know if option 1 or 2 could suspend to ram?
