Greg,
iSCSI will do well in this environment. Please review the following
two URLs:

You may also want to look at the Sun Unified Storage Simulator, which
allows you to manage and install a virtual Sun Storage 7000 Unified
Storage System to a virtual machine on your laptop or desktop.

Hello,
I am new to OpenSolaris however not new to linux/unix. I have been
looking into building a custom SAN for my company and have thought
about using Open Solaris. I have looked into OpenFiler which is
essentially a web gui for tools built into linux but I don't feel
like there is a whole bunch of support, also I am not a fan of the
snapshotting features. ZFS however interests me, but I am not sure
if this will work in this situation. I am planning to use Vmware
ESXI to connect to this system via iscsi. I will be building two of
these boxes for High availability in the case one of the machines
fails. I guess my question is, is open solaris applicable in this
situation or is openfiler a better bet.
Thanks,
Greg
