Hi Thomas Ok, first we need to get to the root cause of the bad TCP performance.
What I would like you to do is obtain two ethernet capture files by me, while running iperf in TCP mode. The first capture file will be obtained when using Linux as the client, and the second will be with OpenSolaris as the client. In each case use Linux as the iperf server, and run tcpdump on the server to get the capture. This way, the capture file will show the client (Linux or OpenSolaris) transmitting data to the server (Linux) Use the iperf option '-t' to limit the amount of time that the client is transmitting, so that we only have a relatively short capture file. I think two seconds will be enough. Use the tcpdump option '-w' to write to file. Make sure tcpdump is running before iperf is started, so that we capture the initial TCP handshake. If you could then email the captures to me, I will have a look at them and try to see what the differences are. Many thanks for your assistance with this.
