Hi, it's possible that r710 suffers mpt-driver issues so be sure to test it out properly before doing anything real on it (: snv_122/123 seems to work ok on these though.

Try removing RAM down to 2GB and see if that helps. It won't run X11 with the extra RAM, and since Caiman is a graphics only installer, you're stuck. Once the OS is installed, you can disable GDM and use the text console: svcadm disable gdm Then add your RAM back in. Hope this gets you going.
