To the best of my knowledge, nobody has considered removing any
support for port multipliers.
Have you considered the possibilities that
(1) your hardware might not be behaving properly, or
(2) there could be a bug in the support

later, I see these changes relating to port multipliers:

This second CR was integrated into build 125.
Please try a more recent build (the currently-available 134
would be a good one) and see whether that works for you better
than 125 does.
