Debian [and thus Storm] has a very systematic way of dealing with how
modules are made available to the kernel at bootup. IMHO, the appropriate
way to introduce modules to the kernel on bootup is to modify the contents
of /etc/modutils/arch/i386 and /etc/modutils/aliases.
Afterwards, run "update-modules" as root. This will make the requisite
changes to /etc/conf.modules.
Do a "man man update-modules" for more information.
Again, glad to hear that you've found a new tool in strace.
