Hi all,
I have a problem that has been bothering me for some time now and now I want
to know if someone who has had a similar experience, or who knows what this is
all about, is able to help me.
On one computer I got Windows 98, SuSE 7.0 (which is my default OS) and Storm
2000 Debian/GNU, all on the same harddisk. Booting is taken care of by
SuSE's Lilo. I have had several different Linux distributions installed on
this 'secondary' linux partition and this is my problem: I only seem to be
able to connect to the Internet with them when they have their own lilo
installed on MBR. But as soon as I put SuSE's lilo back on the MBR then the
other one (in this case Storm) is not able to connect and complains that ppp
is not installed (which is not true).
This is the harddisk disposition:
/hda1 Win98
/hda3 /boot (Storm)
/hda4 /boot (SuSE)
/hda5 / SuSE
/hda6 swap
/hda7 swap
/hda8 / Storm
Does this have anything to do with the /boot partitions?
Do I need to have them at all?
When I installed Storm's lilo on MBR then I was able to connect to the
Internet with it, but not with SuSE. And: the sound in SuSE disappeared too!
Grateful for all ideas on this,
Helgi rn
