Looking at this you also have a problem with X .What happened is that X
in woody is X4 and is simply not configured.You're trying to run generic
in 24bit depth which won't work.You have to configure X first.
 There was a thread here last week about X4 in Debian.See waht you can
dig from the mailinglist archives.
