Franco, from a career standpoint, knowing Red Hat or Debian is equally
impressive on a resume. There are many different distros of Linux on the
market and isolating your knowledge to just one would be similar to only
knowing Windows NT and not 2000 or 98. As an employer I look for knowledge
with Linux or Unix and don't pay heavy attention to which distro the
applicant favours. The bottom line is that while there are differences
between distros, they are still all Linux and knowing one really well
implies at least a general knowledge in the others. The other important
thing is that a knowledgeable Linux user generally knows how and where to
ask for help when the need arises. (ie. help lists like this.)
