Just visited: http://lhd.datapower.com/db/searchproduct.cgi?_catid=11 to learn if my recently acquired Viking 56K Internal Modem (the real thing, not a win-modem) is Linux compatible. Found a listing for a "Viking External Windows 56K Fax Rockwell" with a rating of "5.0", which appears to be the best rating. I found no reference to their Internal 56k Modem and Linux ... is it reasonable to assume compatibility or shall I just stuff one in the box and "smoke test" it? Note: This modem is selling for $29.99 locally, thus my interest in Linux compatibility. Thanks! Doc FYI - I also found this interesting bit of Linux-related text: "Which modems will not work with Linux? (Ref. #001116-0005)" "Win or Windows Modems PCI Modems often don't work Mwave and DSP Modems might work, but only if you first start Windows/DOS each time you power on your PC Modems with RPI (Rockwell) drivers work but with reduced performance." _______________________________________________ Stormlinux-users-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.stormix.com/community/lists/listinfo/stormlinux-users-list
