Dear Richard

It could make a difference, but the real problem with that is the difficult
of getting the fuel to pop up under the existing fire.

There are large coal burners that are screw fed from below. Placing lignite
on top of a glowing bed of coals boils off all the volatiles. It is just not
how to burn coal. Feeding it from the side would not change that much.

Regards
Crispin

Crispin / Andrew,
Please tell me why adding a side feed feature to this stove would not
greatly improve the cool down start up problem /smoke/ you are experiecning
with your batch feed process ?
Richard
