Post news and information from your neighborhood: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] _________________________________________ Andy is right, Satire is meant to offend. In this particular case it was meant to offend the stadium supporters. The satirical piece stereotyped all stadium supporters as rich, hard hearted, white people, who live in the suburbs, are racists and facists.
That this was not harmful or destructive, I disagree with Andy on that point. The purpose of utilizing such a piece in this type of forum is to squelch discussion on the stadium issue. Since this is a discussion list, I do believe that is harmful. Anyone who has done any political work or has any communication's training knows that. Basic concept. I also believe it is harmful to instigate and perpetuate destructive stereotypes.
