I have to agree that the negative side seems to favor the Richer who can afford to pay for their kid to go to a school of their choice vs the poorer who can't.
There is a fix to that, means testing, if you are below a certain income you get free or reduced cost bussing above and you pay. It works for the State's Health Care Program.
I am sure someone will point out that you will still have busses running around picking up those that can't afford to pay, but a voucher system utilizing current and future mass transit options could be utilized to eliminate these issues, and reduce the number of busses running around.
5% is not alot of the budget, but someone somewhere someplace once said, if you watch the pennies the dollars will take care of themselves.
I really think the SPPSB really needs to look at all the extra administration costs associated with our Head Harvey who seems to have placed numerous people into the administration adding to the costs of running the schools.
