I should add, that it is my understanding, that while there was organized neighborhood opposition to the Home Depot project, it was probably not significant in stopping the project. That is not to say that it did not have a role.
But, this was primarily about whether or not the city would cough-up a TIF subsidy, and I've been told that with or without neighborhood opposition, that was unlikely to happen.
Again, I don't mean to diminish the importance of neighborhood feedback on projects like this. But, in this case, it sounds as if the project never really had any legs to begin with.
