You know, it is not that I do not care about this issue, it is just that I know several people personally that work at Home Depot and feel it is the best place they have worked yet. All of them represent diverse groups, so it is hard to rail against a retail company that actually extends a much more decent benefits package to their employees than most retail chains. Now, if there are other issues across the country, how would protesting against part of the company in our area, who are actually doing it right, help the employees that work here? It sounds to me like the unions aren't doing their jobs in other parts of the country. I have worked in retail off and on for years. It is the most neglected area that I know of providing real benefits for their employees. If you really want to go after someone, why don't you check into the practices or lack thereof of Menards? They seem to be popping up all over. They have reached almost a saturation point in the metro area, and have low wages, and lack the benefits that people need so badly. I think competition is good, even among "Big Box" chains. I have always received good service from Menards, and my friends who work there are happy and seem to be well-provided for as far as their benefits go. Perhaps it would be good for you to provide the proof that this is such a problem. Perhaps if you had several articles that you could point to that support your case, I would be more prone to do more research on the issue. My own casual empirical research amongst those I know that work their, seems to contradict your claims against the company.
