Paying property tax is a pain, but it is required. I am not more likely to pay it just because I can use my credit card. I am likely to use my CC from now on, because I get a credit back when I do so. My card gives me 1% back to buy books at Barnes and Noble. Other companies offer other incentives, like frequent flyer miles or cash back.
It has to be relatively new.... I know other counties do not do it at this time so it must be something Ramsey County Decided to do.
As with your card, mine too also carries benefits when I use it, so you can bet that mine will also be paid by CC :-)
Yes it does cost money to run credit cards. Being a business owner who has to deal with them all the time, the costs are a bit strange to figure out, but basically it is, for business anyway, between 5-10% depending on who you actually use to run the cards through. I do not think there is anyplace that does it for less, could be for an account that will run millions through it though.
Oh and you can bet that I will NOT be calling them to pay until it's much closer to the date due as well. One step closer to a cashless society where everything you do is tracked by a CC number.
