How much does this cost our city and county in lost tax revenue? I know the Credit Card service takes a cut. I have heard they take 3% or more." It is no doubt true that the city pays a fee to the credit card companies. However, it may well be that allowing the use of credit cards reduces the number of tax delinquencies. It may be cost-effective to pay the fee rather than delay for years the collection of taxes and incur the collection expenses. Let's hope anyway that the city has done a cost/benefit analysis that shows this to be the case.
