I was delighted to wake up to this news this morning! When Bloomington and Mpls endorsed a ban, I felt mixed feelings:
UPSIDE: - I will finally be able to go out with family and friends and business associates to eat dinner and have beer or a drink. All I have to do is go to Mpls or Bloomington. DOWNSIDE: - Saint Paul will become the hangout of all the dedicated chain smokers who can't eat or drink without smoking. All the Saint Paul venues will be worse than ever. This is what happened years ago when Bakers Square went smoke free. Prior to that, I always went out to Perkins for Sunday breakfast and business meetings. When Bakers Square went smoke free, Perkins got much worse, and I haven't been in Perkins for years. HOWEVER: With Mayor Kellys support of a ban, the smokers can go to Roseville and I can stay home in Saint Paul! > http://www.startribune.com/stories/462/4891250.html > > Hours after the vote, St. Paul Mayor Randy Kelly, who vetoed a ban last > month > because he preferred a regional approach, said he is now ready to support > a > similar ban in St. Paul. > > "I certainly think there will be a smoking ban adopted in St. Paul > [although] > the form it will take I haven't discussed with City Council members," he > said. > "Those discussions will take place in the next few days." > -- Bob Treumann, Saint Paul Please Note: Replies to this email address all go to the trash except where the subject line contains a recognized mailing list identifier, such as [TCMETRO],[StPaul], MP-N ... _____________________________________________ To Join: St. Paul Issues Forum Rules Discussion Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] _____________________________________________ NEW ADDRESS FOR LIST: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To subscribe, modify subscription, or get your password - visit: http://www.mnforum.org/mailman/listinfo/stpaul Archive Address: http://www.mnforum.org/mailman/private/stpaul/
