Hi Paul and list:

I hope Kelly goes to the screening. I saw him when he
spoke at Twin Cities Quorum.

Kelly should remember that though he is unlikely to
get the endorsement of Stonewall DFL, individual
members might well decide to support him - and not
going looks like a snub of the gay community - which
undoes some work Kelly did to recover after winning a
close election when his campaign listened to Norm
Coleman's advice and refused to answer the Lavender
Magazine questionaire.

Kelly's legislative record is mostly good - he voted
for the 93 Human Rights act. The one blemish on his
legislative record is that he voted in favor of
keeping the Minnesota sodomy law in committee in 1998.
I asked him about why at a DFL ward convention I
observed.... He was unable to give me a clear answer
as to why. He did say he didn't think these laws were
appropriate.

Kelly also claimed - at the TC Quorum event - to have
pushed the St Paul resolution to oppose the Bachmann
anti-gay constitutional amendment. When he endorsed
Bush, he made a point of saying he disagreed with Bush
on the issue of the constitutional amendment to ban
gay marriage.
