Gee Gerry as I recall Jerry Blakey was going to get a new theater for Penumbra on Selby Avenue. Tell us when are they moving in?
Then compare how nice and tree-lined the re-constructed Lexington Avenue is from Summit to Como Park, with the re-constructed concrete jungle Dale Street is from I-94 to Como Avenue. Nice reconstruction with plenty of greenery for the rich white folk, but jack for the 'hood. Then there is the that new nice Urban Village at Dale and University that Jerry got funding for, And finally there is the beautiful new urban transit hub, residential housing and commercial development at University and Lexington, at the Old Red Owl - Desnick Drug site that Jerry helped shepard through and got funding for. Did I miss any other great projects Jerry got built? Let's face it. Jerry did almost nothing for Ward 1 the 8 or 10 years he was in office. Yes, he got three new buildings built at Selby and Dale, but beyond that I am scratching my head. I am seeing more construction and revisitation in the last 8 months, since Jerry has been out of office, than in the last 6 to 8 years.
