The local issue here is should we allow the desire of the GOP to keep us in a constant state of fear (what color are we today, yellow or orange?) to destroy our city and school districts budgets. Seeing that the Feds have massive deficits and don't have the resources to give to the cities and school districts to provide the level of security that they are hyping the public to demand, should we cut programs and other services to pay for that level of protection? How safe can you make a school or a park or a public building? As we have seen over and over again, kids can sneak guns into schools. Do you really think that you can make any public building totally safe? Its insane! Two Puerto Rico nationalists shot up the US Capitol in the early 1950's; terror isn't going to end as a method of protest, revenge, desperation or war. Keep the drum beat going, there are terrorists under your bed.
