Apparently there is more talk offline over this issue,
yep, I'll admit to being one of the offline yappers on
this.

First, it seems that Finney will not make an
annoucement until after the election this November and
I'm sure it will be a well-thought out informed one.

>From what I've been reading here and getting offline,
it appears that people are naming candidates they
would LIKE to see run. Maybe the question should be
posed as who can beat Kelly and how will they do it?

1.What is their vision for the city?
2.What base in St Paul do they pull from?
3.What other St Paul groups will this candidate have a
chance of attracting?
4.How much money can this candidate raise? Very
important as money is used to raise name ID, and none
of the candidates mentioned have strong city-wide ID.
That is a consideration when running against an
incumbant Mayor- even if the Mayor is strongly
unpopular in some sects of the city.
5. Will the challenger seek the endorsement- what will
the endorsement bring this time? Probably a question
that can't be answered by many, but I can't see the
city party playing anything but a very strong role in
this election. I expect a strong organized and nicely
financed coordinated effort.

So with the above in mind, who can give the Mayor a
run for his money, and beat him? We can assume with
his Bush endorsement, he grew either his base or his
war chest, depending on what happens in November.

I've got a couple of people in mind, but am curious to
what some of you are thinking.
