Andy, I think you're forgetting that Corky, if he decides to run, will be running against Kelly. You will have two distinct visions for St Paul, if he decides to go.
In most of the city races, the DFL endorsement is needed and decisive. The race for Mayor has been different. The endorsed candidate has not fared so well in the last three elections. Rather the DFL waves a magic wand or there is a bitter fight for endorsement and the primary, Kelly is going to be the incumbant Mayor with things to point to and money to spend. Any DFLer who thinks about running for Mayor, has to be aware of the above and come up with a strategy to counter that- AND explain their vision for the city. That won't happen in an endorsement battle or money wasting primary.
