It should be noted that Ramsey county has plenty of
cards because they printed their own and, unlike the
SOS, have been keeping good tabs on how many they give
out each day.  

The shortage the other day was not limited just to
Kiffmeyer's office; Hennepin was also running short of
the cards supplied by Kiffmeyer's office.

The problem stemmed from the Secretary of State's
office not keeping good track of how many cards were
being distributed, and from the fact that her staff
were saying different things to different people about
whether new cards would be available and when they
would be available.  Some dates given for the next
batch would have put their arrival after the October
12th deadline for pre-registration, or just a day or
two before it.

This was no small matter.  The Secretary of State
corrected the problem because activists got the
attention of the press and, once again, shamed her the
SOS into action.
