-----------------------------------------

Like all things that have real value, I think the DFL
endorsement process is beautifully messy, at times
disorganized, and frequently takes time. And it is a
powerful grassroots tool for democratic discussion and
deliberation, and helps to give ordinary citizens a
voice in determining the collective vision for our
City's future.

Our City campaigns are becoming more influenced by
money. While I would prefer publicly financing
campaigns, the second-best anecdote to money is a
strong and democratic grassroots endorsement process.

The process is as strong as we citizens ourselves make
it. The DFL endorsement continues to be of key
importance - which is why so many candidates seek it,
and why you routinely see the words "DFL Endorsed" on
literature and lawn signs. Anyone who is supportive
of Democrats should feel free to join me in working to
engage, improve and enjoy the process next spring.
