Kelly a tough nut to crack? All we have to do is show his ties to the unpopular policies of the unpopular StPaul Chamber of Commerce, Building Trades, and Pioneer Press. Stadium, corporate welfare, GSE, smoking, freeways, big boxes, billboards, etc. Anything the corporations and richest 1% want, nothing for the average citizen except less of everything.
It worked in the last council election - the Chamber lost 2 of 3 open races due to everyone knowing who their candidates were, and voting against them on that basis. Let's do it again! Some thought that the Chamber candidates might be open minded, their own persons, not just puppets of the Chamber. But everything I have heard of their one winning candidate, Debbie Montgomery, is that she is Chamber all the way, no independence, a voice for the Chamber run from the Chamber. We don't need more Chamber puppets. We don't need Kelly back. We need him gone so we can move ahead in StPaul. If he comes back, we're at deadlock until the next Council race in 2007, when we might get a 5-member veto-proof majority. But why waste 2 years? Get rid of Randy 'Chamber of Commerce' Kelly now! --David Shove Roseville On Wed, 24 Nov 2004, John Birrenbach wrote: > At 12:48 PM -0600 11/24/04, List Manager wrote: > >Ortega announces campaign for St. Paul mayor > > Well, not much of a surpize.. you generally don't call a press > conference at the Union Depot (Railway central, I think you see what > he has in mind) to say your not gonna run. > > I have briefly meet Mr Ortega, actually had him forced on my by Denny > Hill as they door knocked in the hood a few years back :-) .... > > Found him to be a likeable enough person....
