John, all I have to do when I read the editorial page of the Ppress is
remember back to 1989 when virtually the only question they asked candidates
for
office was if they supported the grade separated interchange on Sheppard at
Chestnut. If you didn't you were anti-downtown, end of screening for
endorsement.
They wrote editorial after editorial on how without that interchange downtown
would die.

Well, the evil liberals stopped the grade separated interchange and pushed
Sheppard Road back behind Xcel. What an evil thing to do. So instead of the
freeway interchange on the riverfront we have the Science Museum and new
housing
where freeway styled ramps should be.

Of course after Norm got in office and took credit for the Science Museum
that was started by the liberals, then the Ppress talk about the wonders of
riverfront development and gave as much credit to Ron (Saint Paul must have a
Grade
Separated interchange at Chestnut) Clark as a visionary of the river.

So remember almost every bad idea that has ever occurred was first advocated
by the Ppress editorial board. Its a tradition.
