Whatever argument might have followed these numbers (frankly, I didn't see one) wasn't helped by the fact that, obviously, they were made up on the spot. There may be some bars where more than 50% of the patrons are smokers but this is surely not the case for all patrons of all bars. I think Dennis has been listening to the whinings of the owners of the Eagle Street Tavern and Costellos. As for Dennis' challange to advocate a total ban on tobacco, I think that's be a fine idea in theory. Unfortunately, I don't believe it's paractical and I don't want to turn the tobacco industry over to the kind of violent criminals that now control the drug trade. So, let's just leave it to the conscienceless, immoral capitalists that control it now and try to ameliorate its effects on the rest of us. As the saying goes "the enemy of the good is the perfect." And, by the way, I didn't say that all capitalists are without consciences, only those plying the tobacco trade.
