Riding down St. Anthony Monday, I spotted a rather large hawk sitting on
one of the lamps over interstate 94 westbound lane between Dale and

Thanks to Michelle for sharing this. I am sometimes surprised at the
wildlife sightings that take place within our fair city. I know, that
from neighborhood to neighborhood, there are very different
opportunities for wild animals to survive in St. Paul.
I've lived in St. Paul all my life (most of it), but was very
surprised to see a family of raccoons near my current house about 10
years ago. Now, I've not seen them for a very long time. Of course,
there is the occasional deer siting. Wasn't it just a year or two
ago, that a deer ran through Rice Park.
For a change of pace, I'd love to hear a quick survey of the
different kinds of wildlife that some of us see from time to time in
our back yards.
Anyone care to begin?
What the most unusual wildlife sighting that you have had in the last
year, within the boundaries of St. Paul?
(Actually, Michelle already started us off with her Pileated Woodpecker
story).
