Did you come away energized/excited?

I certainly did. Nothing gives me more joy than being a mom. Monday
morning I got a call from one of my Girls Scouts (a Crosswinds girl; they're
on
intercession) who wanted to go to the rally. Ended up taking three girls to
the
House Session at 3:00 (wanted to go early for better parking; besides, a
learning opportunity). Talked to my daughter (Central HS) at 2:00 but she
wanted to stick with her plan to ride the Central bus at 4:30.

We sat in the gallery - a new experience for all of us. About half way
through a tightly wrapped note (as girls will do) was passed down the aisle
with
my name on it. "Mom, I'm here and I found you!" My daughter had changed her
mind; gotten a ride to the Capitol; found the gallery and me! I was so
proud of her - to be 15 and be able to navigate the Capitol on her own!

We used the bridge banners at the rally after thinking more about the safety
question raised on the forum - they were lightweight and BIG. Could've
covered a windshield if they'd gotten away from folks. Took four girls to
hold
one.

We were all so pumped when we left, decided to come to our house for a pizza
party. First thing we saw when we walked in the door and turned on the news
was "my girls" and their banner. There's video footage at
_http://www.kstp.com/_ (http://www.kstp.com/) (without the girls).

It was an exciting, rewarding event. Especially in light of my last minute
opportunity to introduce the girls to "democracy in action."

PS - Over the weekend, my daughter made a sign that said, "Sports Saves
Lives" - the message she most wanted to communicate to the Governor was that
athletics keeps kids out of trouble, physically fit and away from
alcohol/drugs.
She was on the JV Soccer and Gymnastics teams at Central this year and she
doesn't want to see that go away. Gave us a good opportunity to talk about
what's important to her and why, and how she could do something about it by
joining a larger effort to communicate with the Capitol.
