How about if two of the three "fine candidates" are either endorsed by the regressive StPaul Chamber of Commerce (Kelly), or might as well be given his record (Coleman).
Common wisdom has it that a Republican can't win in StPaul. So Republicans run under the title of DFL; their scads of money (enuf to scare off the opposition) comes from the Chamber's developer etc high-rollers, to buy a city government that will award contracts to themselves. So the main argument in favor of Coleman is, he can raise lots of money. Well, guess why? He's pretty much a smarter Kelly; the Chamber rep in a new body. I suppose Ortega is seen as not raising as much - probably because he might be closer to the people than to the Chamber. Hmm - we's LIKE a person for the people, but he can't raise enuf money, so we'll go with a person against the people. And then we have DFL stalwarts telling us this situation is good. --David Shove Roseville On Sat, 5 Mar 2005, Renee Jenson wrote: > > I did not attend the caucuses on Tuesday night because I had to work. > Thanks for all the updates from the people who attended the caucuses. > > The thing that drives so many people away from the DFL is all the > infighting within the party.
